Dr. Heap-Yih (John) Chong is a Chartered Builder (MCIOB) and a Registered Arbitrator (MMIArb). He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Management) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2011. He has published a total of 2 books, 7 book chapters, 128 journal papers and 47 conference papers. Among the journal papers, 115 of them have been listed in Web of Science. Currently, he holds a continuing position as an Associate Professor (Teaching & Research) at the School of Design and the Built Environment, Curtin University as well as a Research Professor at the School of Engineering Audit, Nanjing Audit University, China.

He brings with him a sound understanding of the construction sector. He has a strong track record of coherent research outputs in the top refereed journal articles and has successfully secured a number of competitive research grants from funding bodies in Australia ( including ARC Discovery Grant) and other countries, such as Malaysia, China, Middle East, and Japan. He has a growing profile and is actively involved in professional bodies and industry engagements. He also serves as a detailed Assessors for Australian Research Council (ARC) and Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong: FDS and GRF / ECS as well as Editorial Board Members of International Journal of Project Management, Buildings and Energies , Guest Editor (Special Collection) of ASCE Journal of Management in Engineering , Academic Editor of Advances in Civil Engineering , etc
